The Samiti was established on 22 April 1962 by devotees of Amravati, inspired by the great ideal given by Swami Vivekananda: “Atmano Mokshartham Jagat Hitaya Cha” - For One's Own Salvation and Welfare of the World.
The institution is situated on approximately 45,000 sq. ft. of self-owned land at Vivekananda Colony, Amravati. Additionally, around 29,000 sq. ft.of land has been allotted by the government to the institution at the foot of Maltekadi, Amravati.
The institution has a Community Prayer Hall, Public Reading Room and Library, Tribal Youth Hostel, Bal Sanskar Classes, Study Classes and Health Centre.
Along with spiritual activities, the institution conducts many social welfare projects as follows:
Shishu Sanskar Mandir
Shishu Sanskar Mandir has been functioning for economically weak and educationally deprived children since 2004. Around 50–60 children get benefit every year from this programme, which runs daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Uniforms, educational materials, and play materials are provided to the children. No government grant is received for this activity.

Tribal Youth Hostel
Sri Ramakrishna Mission Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh is working in the remote and Naxal-infested area of Chhattisgarh to bring the youths of Narayanpur into the national mainstream.
The youths trained by the famous Narayanpur Ashram have made their mark at the national and international level. The youths from Narayanpur Ashram who are keen to pursue physical education in the world famous, illustrious HVPM (Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal), Amravati are accommodated in the Youth Hostel for Tribal Youths, which is run free of cost since 2018. Accommodation and food arrangements are made by the Samiti with donation from community. No government grants are taken to meet the expenses.
The life of Swami Vivekananda reflects the highest ideals of Indian culture such as self-confidence, renunciation, concentration, self-reliance, self-control, and dedication to public welfare.
Keeping this in mind, one-day workshops on “Effective Life Management” are organized for college students so that they get proper direction in life and inspiration from the character and ideals of Swami Vivekananda.
Lecture series are organized in arts, commerce, science, and engineering colleges in Amravati district to inspire students through the ideals and teachings of Swami Vivekananda.
Monks of Ramakrishna Mission and scholars of Swami Vivekananda provide guidance during these programmes.
The institution has a government-recognized Grade “A” modern library and spacious reading room.
The library contains approximately 24,000 books on various subjects and subscribes 16 newspapers and 52 magazines. About 75 readers benefit daily, out of 300 members, with a large number of youth participants.
Updated books for competitive examination preparation are also made available.
Free study room facilities are available for youth preparing for competitive examinations and for economically weaker students who do not have adequate study space at home.
Many students benefit from this facility.
Health Check-up Camps
Annual health check-up camps are organized for economically weaker families
A charitable homeopathy clinic is run by the Samiti every Sunday from 6 pm to 8 pm. There are future plans to start Ayurvedic and Naturopathy centres.
Spiritual development programmes are organized for devotees associated with Ramakrishna Mission and Math and other citizens.
These include spiritual camps, meditation camps, and spiritual discourses.
Every year festivals such as Guru Purnima, Mahashtami, birth anniversaries of Bhagwan Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda are celebrated with special worship, homa-havan, and Mahaprasad.
